Three Important Safety Tips Your Child Will Learn Well in Karate Class
Young students at Bloomington ATA Family Martial Arts practice these and other simple, memorable safety routines.
[sitecity] Karate
The instructors and staff at our Martial Arts school are well trained and experienced at teaching children and adults a variety of useful skills – self-defense among them – that help them evade and escape potentially dangerous situations, among many other life-improving benefits.
Parents enroll their children in our reputable [sitecity] Karate programs
for many different reasons. They know that Martial Arts can help children who are overweight, uncoordinated, or lacking in courtesy and discipline. Others want their kids to do better in school (yes, Karate helps kids earn better grades!) Still others bring their kids to our children’s Karate lessons because they want them to become more safety conscious and learn to extricate themselves from potentially harmful scenarios.
[sitecity] Kids’ Karate Programs
All the programs we offer kids at our [sitecity] Karate school are designed and proven to give them the tools they need to defend themselves, should the need arise. With the harmful effects of bullying in school being documented more frequently and understood more deeply, these are important skills for all ages to possess. Child abduction is a tragedy that no parent wants to experience or allow to occur. Fortunately, the safety tips and techniques we instill in our Karate students are known to stave off dangers before they ever materialize. Here are three tips that young students learn and rehearse with regularity:
Never Get Into a Stranger’s Car
Most children are open-minded and impressionable. Sadly, this innocence often means they are naive, unsuspecting, and especially vulnerable. One of the safety principles we instill in our basic and advanced Karate program is to never approach or get into a stranger’s car or home. We teach our [sitecity] Karate kids to politely but firmly refuse. If the stranger is more persistent, our students know to run away and find a parent or trusted neighbor. Should push come to shove, the training in our kids’ Karate program is specially designed to help them distract, resist, and harm an attacker just well enough to break away and flee to safety.
Always Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Awareness is another of the main safety tenets we instill in our [sitecity] children’s Karate program. Often, avoiding a dangerous situation is as simple as crossing to the other side of a street or staying out of dimly lit areas when walking. We teach all our students to travel on well-lit, populated paths when walking home from school or a friend’s house at night.
Strike Quickly and Run for Help
Even the most well-trained students in our [sitecity] kids’ Karate
program would have a hard time going toe to toe with an adult assailant. This is why we teach techniques proven to stun assailants long enough to break free and escape to safety. At our facility in [sitecity], simple combative techniques like elbow strikes to the face, punches to the groin, and jabs to the throat and eyes are practiced (safely) on a regular basis, because when delivered forcefully, they are capable of disabling a much larger opponent long enough to make good an escape.
